Since we were founded in 1994, Lucas has provided project management, engineering, remediation, operations, and environmental, safety, health, and quality services in support of the environmental cleanup of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) national nuclear complex. In recent years we have expanded our services to other federal agencies, and to the commercial, industrial and alternative energy industries.

Ken Lucas

President, PE

Ken is the founder of Lucas and is currently the company President. Ken has over 40 years of experience in the nuclear industry. He is a Licensed Professional Civil Engineer. Ken began his career as a project engineer and project manager with the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Richland Operations Office. He left the DOE in 1991 to go to Westinghouse Hanford Company until 1994, when he and former partner John Anttonen founded what was then Anttonen Lucas Associates, now Lucas Engineering and Management Services. Over this period Ken has established himself as a highly respected senior management consultant and expert in the areas of strategic planning, project management and engineering management. Ken is committed to the continued development of Lucas has a recognized center of excellence for services to the environmental, nuclear and energy business sectors.

CCH2M Hill Plateau Remediation Company

Since 2009 Lucas has been providing CHPRC project management and engineering support to the STP Phase II Project at DOE’s Hanford Site.  The STP Phase II project is to treat and dispose as Remote Handled Transuranic Waste highly radioactive sludge resulting from the storage of degraded spent nuclear fuel that has been consolidated in engineered containers in the 105-K West Storage Basin.  Under multiple contracts Lucas has developed a Technology Evaluation and Alternatives Analysis, a Preliminary Technology Maturation Plan, and a Preliminary STPF Siting Study.   Remaining scope included development of the functional design criteria, project execution plan, life-cycle baseline, statement of work for A/E services, and oversight of future A/E services.
