Lucas EMS offers a variety of services and technologies in support of Nuclear Facilities Decontamination and Decommissioning; Radioactive Mixed Waste Site Characterization and Remediation. 

 

 Lucas EMS' personnel have expertise in complex radioactive and hazardous waste facility

D&D, and soils remediation project planning and management.  Capabilities include Data

Quality Objectives development, site characterization, waste classification, environmental

data management, health physics, D&D and remediation technologies, and project planning

and management.

 

We have established a few carefully selected strategic alliances with technology and service

providers to further augment the breadth of our  D&D and environmental remediation services

to our clients.

 

Lucas EMS, in joint venture with AREVA Inc provided a decontamination process for the

Hanford Plutonium Finishing Plant Decontamination and Decommissioning (D&D) project for

and Environmental Data Management Services.

 

This system employs a Cerium gel process that significantly reduces worker time and hazard exposure over conventional decontamination processes. This system uses Cerium 4 suspended in an inorganic gel that is spray applied to surfaces.  The gel then uses an oxidation process to etch the metal and extract the Pu contamination without scrubbing.  The end product is a dry powder that can be wiped and vacuumed off for disposal as a TRU waste product, meeting WIPP WAC
